![]() Choosing to stick with a theme in mind and not being flexible with ship systems will cost you. Instead of accepting defeat like before I instead chose to study the reasons and causes as to why my runs kept failing and eventually I kept seeing the poor choices I made before and how to make better decisions.Ĭhoosing to buy that Vulcan cannon for 95 scrap in sector 2 when you don't have level 3 shields yet will cost you. My first few runs went the same way as before and I thought to myself :"Here we go again" but as I kept playing I realized that this game is less RNG and more the choices you make that can come back to bite you. I currently have all ships and layouts unlocked except Federation C. Also the last time I played I used a downloaded save file and just stuck to ships I liked using, this time I was determined to do it the old fashioned way and unlock ships by playing the game. The last time I played FTL I got frustrated by the "RNG" and cursed my bad luck all on that alone but now I see that RNG had nothing to do with it or at least not entirely. Btw, GOG now has cloud saves so you dont have to worry about that happening now. Because mine was a GOG copy I had to start my game all over again as I did not have my save file from before. What a coincidence, I started my FTL run again last month. I'll let yall know how it goes.īelow is me realizing that my top score is DURING A LOSS!!! That's probably why I RQ the game, lol. This week, I have tried and failed at Federation, Zoltan, and Slug B. How I'm going about this is that I'm attempting one racial ship/day. So join me, as I try to play about one game a day or so, in an attempt to correct this error, in an exercise of masochism. In other words, I still have a ton of FTL to play, AE enabled, of course. I have yet to unlock Engi, Mantis, Rock, or Stealth C. I noticed immediately that I had yet to achieve a VICTORY for:Īll of the C ships. I fired up the game after not playing for a good six months to a year. Or, you run into a Zoltan in sector 2 who jukes all your shots and lands theirs before you can escape.Ī derail ensued, and folks started talking about FTL. In contrast, FTL's RNG Might just toss a boarding drone into the pilot's room of your Engi vessel and you just straight up die. I made a passing comment in the Into the Breach thread concerning how I like ItB more because unlike in FTL, if I lose, I know it's my fault I can discern that one or two turns ago, I made a move that I shouldn't have, or, I notice the cumulative effect of bad moves that ultimately result in my grid falling or losing a pilot.
